Propylene

Propylene is the monomer (chemical building block) polymerised into polypropylene. It is made from crude oil and natural gas via naphtha or propane. Because propylene is the direct feedstock for PP, its price — often quoted FOB Korea for Asian trade — is one of the best leading indicators of where PP resin costs are going.
