Masterbatch (dope dyeing)

A masterbatch is concentrated colour pigment blended into the resin before it is spun into yarn — also called 'solution' or 'dope' dyeing. Because the colour is locked into the fibre rather than dyed onto the surface, masterbatch-coloured carpet resists fading, bleaching and wear far better than bath-dyed alternatives.
